Week 31
Isaiah 46:10 “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, ‘My purpose will be established’.”
The Lord knows, and the Lord understands all things. He knows the end from the beginning; He knows all things without reference to time and sequence. And His intent is to fully and completely accomplish His will, in His way, in His time.
For God’s people, this inspires prayer and faith in the fullest extent. We pray not to inform God of something He doesn’t know; we pray to lay before Him all our cares and considerations that strike concern in our hearts. We pray to commune with our dear Lord about life’s fears and aspirations. We pray to Him because He knows, not to tell Him because He doesn’t know. We ask for His guidance and leadership because we know not the way, He does. And He hears our prayers, and He responds to our prayers in keeping with His plan and purpose.
When God says, “My purpose will be established”, there is certainty and assurance associated with this statement. Humans cannot thwart God in His purposed plan and intent, and even the devil cannot stop God from accomplishing what He plans to do. There is great comfort in this assertion! We as God’s people can and we MUST rest fully and totally in the confidence that God is working in our lives, in our world, and in our circumstances to bring about what is perfect and best for us. Nothing and no one can stop God from doing His will for us!
The devil will always try to challenge this truth in our life experience. He will sometimes raise thoughts in our minds that contradict God’s promise and affirmation. The devil is always starting his mental attacks in our minds with, “But what if…”. Then the brooding begins. At this point we start postulating the possibilities of how God MIGHT NOT come through for us. Then the anxiety sets in, and we begin to tremble with fear.
Dear Christian friend, God is your God, and He is God in all things in your life experience. Nothing and no one can keep God from being God in your life. He planned to save you, and He did. He has planned to sanctify you, and He is. He has planned to take you unto Himself where you will live with Him in heaven forever and ever, and you may be absolutely certain that GOD WILL DO JUST THAT! The Lord will not leave you, and the Lord will not abandon you. You are on the path that He has chosen for your life, and you will make it! God will accomplish His purpose for you in Christ; this is assured. Rest in His promise and live with courage.
Prayer: Dear Lord, sometimes I wonder if I will make it. But my trust is in You. I know that You will finish the work you have started in me, and I can and will trust you to finish Your saving plan in my life. I look forward to being with You in heaven. Amen.
