Music Ministry

Music Ministry at First Baptist Church Fenton

God has given to us the beautiful gift of music, and it is our desire to use this gift to glorify and praise Him, who is worthy of all praise and honor!

“So why have a music ministry?” one might ask.  We believe that music has great value in the church for many reasons.  The most obvious value is the place that music has in the worship services.  This is the time when the worshipper is involved in praise, adoration, intercession, confession, repentance, testimony, and dedication of life.  Music helps us to express our worship.  Secondly, music is a tool for witnessing to others, in that it gives us a way to express to others what God has done for us, and what He can do for others.  Another strength of having a music ministry is its ability to teach Christian doctrine and concepts.  As we sing the words to songs that are filled with the truths of the Scriptures, we grow in our understanding of God and His Word.  Finally, music offers participation on all levels, to all age groups.  Music is a means of communication that can be expressed by all.

Paul admonishes us in Ephesians 5:19 to “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.  Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  (NIV)    We have taken this admonition seriously and have developed a full-graded choir program to give us opportunities to accomplish this goal.  We would like to invite you to be a part of this music ministry by joining one of our choirs.
