Week 8
1 Corinthians 1:24 “Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God”
When God’s revelation of truth is distilled to its raw and most basic form, one finds a somewhat surprising but vital fact – Christ is the embodiment of God’s power and wisdom! It is in Christ that we see the purity, strength, and beauty of God’s holiness in manifest human form. There is nothing desirable to be seen that is not seen in the Lord Jesus; He is the incarnation of perfection to the delight of every soul given the wisdom and opportunity to understand and the faith to receive Him.
This is why Christians write songs about Jesus, preach sermons about Jesus, and study the intricate details and characteristics of Christ’s awesome and glorious person and saving work. We are intoxicated with the joy of Jesus, for in Him we find the central point of God’s redemptive plan and work. In Christ, we see the attractive beauty of God’s goodness and righteousness. And we find in Him, and in Him alone, the wondrous Light that draws us into the Light of life, for truly He is the “Light of the world (John 8:12).” In Jesus, our hope is found, both for this life and for life to come.
But the sinner wants something else other than Jesus; they are foolish for they do not see or understand the attractiveness of Jesus. Paul said the Jews wanted signs-miracles, and the Greeks wanted philosophical wisdom. But the life of true Life is not found in miracles or philosophy. Life abundant and eternal, a life that fills the soul with soul and ecstatic actualization, is found ONLY in Jesus Christ. It is only in Christ’s perfection of person, and in His saving work on the cross and in the resurrection, that we find that for which the soul yearns.
So, rise up, Christian friend, and celebrate Jesus! Celebrate Him, enjoy Him, rejoice in Him, worship Him, and find your fulfillment in Him; for He is your ALL IN ALL. The Bible says, “In Him you have been made complete (Colossians 2:10).” How true! In Christ, your hope and your noble aspirations are satisfied to the full. And once in heaven your human capacity will be expanded and purified to enjoy Him beyond comprehension forever and ever! What a day that will be!
Prayer: Dear Lord, please deliver me from earthly pursuits that do not satisfy my soul but leave me restless, helpless, and listless. Awaken my affections to Christ that I might see and experience the greatness of Your joy and love in Him alone. For it is in Christ my hope and salvation are found. Please, give me Jesus, and I am content! Amen!
