Week 26
1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you”
Here is a stunningly magnificent statement: God cares for you. My humble soul reads this and exclaims, “Why would God care for such a sinner as I am?” The answer is simple: Caring for us gives praise and glory to His name by showing His love.
Our sweet Savior cares for us in spite of our sin. He cares for us in spite of our weaknesses. Our dear Lord cares for us every day, in every event, perpetually and continually.
The fact that He cares for you is the reason why He saved you. He cares for you; thus, He shepherds you throughout your life. He cares for you; therefore, He watches over you. He cares for you, and He is preparing a place for you in heaven with Him for all eternity.
His care for you is inspired by His love, guided by His wisdom, and strengthened by His power. There is no power in the universe that can keep God from caring for you. There is nothing in your life that can stop Him from caring for you, and there is nothing in God that will cause Him ever to cease caring for you. He will care for you today, tomorrow, and every day, throughout your life until the moment He carries you across the river of death to His eternal heaven of light.
So, how should we respond to this glorious and life-transforming truth? Our text answers this question: We are to cast all our anxieties on Him. The truth of God’s never-ending, never-diminishing care for us should cause us to cast our anxieties on Him.
Because God cares for us, He is protecting us and providing for us. He who cares for the little sparrow will care for His people. He who clothes the flowers of the field will cover and care for His people. In the words of the psalmist, “We are His people and the sheep of His pasture” (Psalm 100:3); therefore, He will care for us. Jesus said, “Fear not, little flock, the Father has chosen to give you His kingdom” (Luke 12:32). The Apostle Paul said, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31) We are safe in His hands; we are secure in His love.
Christian friend, anxieties come regularly and disturbingly. The question is what we are to do with our anxieties when they come. The Bible gives a clear and pointed answer to that issue: We are to cast upon our Savior and Lord all those things that would rob us of our joy and peace. We are to trust fully and daily upon Him who cares eternally for us. You are safe because you are saved. Trust Him!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to cast upon You my every care and worry. Help me to live my life in faith depending upon Your grace and strength. I thank You for loving me, and I thank You for caring for me. Help me to never forget this important truth, and may it comfort me in the hour of my trials.
